  1. domain transfer

We had problems with an American based web hosting and they agreed to refund us in full. They closed the account with us. I search for a UK based web hosting and chose eUKhost and purchased web hosting.

I discovered that I needed to transfer our domain name to eUKhost. I got in touch with the American based web hosting and they said the domain name is no longer registered with them and informed me it is registered eNom LLC. I logged into WhoIs and saw that the Current Registrar is indeed eNom LLC and the domain is unlocked. In WhoIs I selected Domain Name Transfer but I am informed ‘once you have placed the Transfer request, you need to change the IPS-tag for this domain name to our Registrar tag. This is where I got stuck. How do I change the IPS-tag? I received an email from WhoIS who said ‘kindly change the IPS-tag for this domain name to PDR-IN. What do I need to do?

    Many thanks.

  2. You need to get the new IPS-tag from the registrar you are transferring to and then give that tag to the registrar that you are leaving (Enom). Once they update the IPS-tag, the transfer will be ‘pushed’ to the new registrar within a few minutes.

  3. An Internet Provider Security (IPS) tag is a label that identifies domain registrars when administering domain name registration and DNS services. An IPS tag is also known as a registrar tag, domain tag, Nominet provider tag, or IPS key. Nominet issues a unique code to every .uk domain to identify which registrar has control of that domain. An IPS tag looks like a sequence of capital letters and numbers, sometimes with a hyphen. To transfer a .UK domain, you must unlock the domain and change the IPS tag to the one held by the new Registrar.
